The Bihar Board class 10 exams or BSEB board exams for class 10 students began today, February 17, and it’s a complete shock to see thousands of students appearing for the board exams in slippers as the board has banned shoes and socks in exams to crack down on rampant cheating..Students who arrive at the exam centre in shoes and socks have to take them off before moving towards the examination hall.
Bihar Board has been a part of the news very often due to severe misconduct and numerous cases of cheating in board exams. So as to crack down on cheating practices, the Bihar Government has ordered the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) to ban shows and socks in board exams
This is not a new measure however. The ban on shoes and socks in Bihar board exams was implemented last year itself and over 17 lakh students had appeared for the Bihar class 10 board exams in slippers only.BSEB Chairman Anand Kishore, who has issued the instructions, had told IANS last year that in Bihar, shoes and socks weren’t allowed in other competitive exams as well. Thus, he had ordered the BSEB to follow the practice from 2019 onwards in the state board exams as well.
Last year, around 1000 students who were caught cheating in the BSEB Class 12 board exams were punished.
Ruby Rai, who was the topper of the BSEB Class 12 boards from Humanities in 2016, had faced difficulties while giving answers to certain questions related to her subjects on camera.
The science stream topper in the same year, Saurabh Shreshtha, also failed to give answers to simple science questions.
We can only hope that the strict initiatives being implemented by the Bihar Board to restraint cheating in board exams would make cases of mass cheating a threat of the past.
